OK so The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's improved dramatically in recent years. The only thing I'd watch out for is outdoor recreation. Other than that, Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a project manager who relocated here from LA about 6 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Four distinct seasons
- Affordable housing options
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Dating scene is rough
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are reasonable, gas is underrated.
Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I've been living here for 15 years and I'd say it's not perfect but it works for me. The pet-friendliness is hit or miss compared to other places I've lived. Overall No regrets on my end..

I've lived in East for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Phoenix, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Affordable housing options
- The pet-friendliness scene is surprisingly good
The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Limited entertainment options
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for families. Happy to answer more specific questions..
