Is Lockwood getting better or worse?

My family moved here when I was a kid. Rent is about $995/month for a decent place. With a population of 7,474, Lockwood is a small town. It's a a small town city with about 7,474 people. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Pros:
- Affordable cost of living
- Nice parks and trails
- Low crime in most areas
- Plenty of shopping options

Cons:
- Cold winters
- Poor road conditions
- Far from major airports
- Homelessness issues downtown
- Not enough green space
Cheers. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The suburbs are where most families end up. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Raleigh about 12 years ago. The main reasons were family and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good schools in most areas
- Good internet infrastructure

Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are pricey, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Feel free to reach out with questions..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it was the best decision I ever made. Internet is improving in most areas.

I work in education here and I genuinely enjoy living here. The job market for my field is average. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Used to live on the Fairview side, now on the Midtown side. Completely different vibe. I genuinely enjoy living here.
