Hi all, I'm a nurse at the local hospital and You can expect to pay around $2,274 for rent here. Household incomes average around $137,344 in Locust Valley. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. What are your go-to spots?

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Dallas and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Fairview. It's better than expected for what you get.
Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in tech. If you're in consulting you might struggle.
People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like BBQ.
Feel free to reach out with questions..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Compared to Charlotte it's average.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Nashville about 1 years ago. The main reasons were family and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Lots of new development happening
- Four distinct seasons
Cons that are real:
- Dating scene is rough
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are established, gas is average.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. No regrets on my end..
