Lodi is underrated, change my mind

Random thought, I'm a teacher here and Poverty rate is 9.6%, which is pretty low. Rent is about $1,565/month for a decent place. With a population of 67,008, Lodi is a smaller city. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Would love some local perspective. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The weather takes some getting used to. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Weather-wise, the summers are tough and winters are pricey. You get used to it after the first year.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. it was the best decision I ever made. Compared to San Diego it's excellent.

Came here for family and stayed because it exceeded my expectations. The pet-friendliness is honestly pretty good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a accountant, 52, moved here 8 years ago from San Diego. I've lived in Pine Hills and Fairview, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good healthcare facilities
2. Good internet infrastructure
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally decent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Chain restaurants dominate
2. Homeless population growing downtown
3. The public transit situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Pine Hills: Great for young professionals. excellent vibes, walkable.
- Fairview: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from San Diego, everything felt pretty good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are developing. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $100K-$70K here.

**Final verdict:**
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I've lived in Meadowbrook for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Boston, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Active local events and festivals
- The cost of living scene is underrated

The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Can feel isolated

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for couples. Feel free to reach out with questions..

I've been living here for 7 years and I'd say I'm still on the fence after all this time. The traffic is excellent compared to other places I've lived. Overall Happy to answer more specific questions..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are solid, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

As someone who grew up here, I'm still on the fence after all this time. A lot has changed in the past few years though. community vibe used to be much stable but now it's tough.
