Hello, I grew up here but left for a while. With a population of 25,946, Lodi is a smaller city. It's a a smaller city city with about 25,946 people. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The weather takes some getting used to. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The city has invested a lot in new development. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. I'm a project manager who relocated here from Houston about 11 years ago. The main reasons were family and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Good internet infrastructure
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Can feel isolated
- Limited shopping options
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are wild, gas is tough.
Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I've lived in Old Town for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good schools in most areas
- The job market scene is improving
The downsides:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Homeless population growing downtown
