Couple moving to Logan from out of state

Not sure if this has been asked before, but Military spouse here. The unemployment rate is 1.7%, which is pretty low. Rent is about $1,070/month for a decent place. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Does this match your experience? Thanks for reading. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The weather takes some getting used to. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Internet is decent in most areas.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a chef, 44, moved here 2 years ago from Nashville. I've lived in Greenfield and Cedar Grove, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Good airport with direct flights
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally surprisingly good - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Summers can be brutally hot
2. Winters are long and cold
3. The outdoor recreation situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Greenfield: Great for singles. tough vibes, walkable.
- Cedar Grove: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Nashville, everything felt pretty good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is manageable. You can live comfortably on $80K-$100K here.

**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

We moved here with our family and it's not perfect but it works for me. Schools in Old Town area are improving. Kids love it here.

Weather-wise, the summers are underrated and winters are wild. You get used to it after the first year.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from LA and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Midtown. It's hit or miss for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in real estate. If you're in finance you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: tough. Tons of options if you like BBQ.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..
