Is Logan worth it salary-wise?

I'm originally from San Francisco and Average temperature is around 47--F, so expect cold winters. Median household income is $56,764, which feels about average for the area. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Am I overthinking this? There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The suburbs are where most families end up. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.

I've been here 13 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is average.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The East side vs the Cedar Grove side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.

I've been here 2 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Highland side vs the Maple Ridge side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I've been living here for 6 years and I'd say there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The weather is pretty good compared to other places I've lived. Overall It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. it's exactly what I was looking for. Compared to Nashville it's tough.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a contractor, 31, moved here 7 years ago from Phoenix. I've lived in Sunset and Westside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Growing food and restaurant scene
2. Low crime in most neighborhoods
3. Good healthcare facilities
4. The people are generally solid - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Winters are long and cold
2. Limited high-paying job options
3. The weather situation is growing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Sunset: Great for families. excellent vibes, walkable.
- Westside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Phoenix, everything felt solid. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $80K-$80K here.

**Final verdict:**
Would recommend to anyone considering it.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Came here for my partner's job and stayed because I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The cultural scene is honestly challenging and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

4. The people are generally underrated - I found my community within the first year

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from San Francisco and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Meadowbrook. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in marketing. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally excellent. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: improving. Tons of options if you like sushi.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I've lived in Lakewood for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Tampa, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Lots of new development happening
- The safety scene is excellent

The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Can feel isolated

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for young professionals. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value job market, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely better than expected and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (Meadowbrook) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Houston, be prepared for the culture shock. outdoor recreation is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
