Curious what people think. Born and raised here. Average temperature is around 61--F, so the weather is moderate. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

I've lived in Maple Ridge for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Pittsburgh, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Active local events and festivals
- The school system scene is decent
The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Urban sprawl is real
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for remote workers. Good luck with whatever you decide..

it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Minneapolis, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Active local events and festivals
- The public transit scene is pretty good
The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Road conditions need improvement
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for retirees. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
