Living in Loma Linda -the reality

So, I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Homes are going for about $557,800 on average. The unemployment rate is 4.0%, which is pretty low. Poverty rate is 7.0%, which is pretty low. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Any advice would be great. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The suburbs are where most families end up. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

I'm a pharmacist and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. The community is underrated and there's always something going on.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a HR manager, 49, moved here 2 years ago from Houston. I've lived in Maple Ridge and East, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Strong job market in several industries
2. Close to major attractions
3. Affordable housing options
4. The people are generally decent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Traffic during rush hour is rough
2. Limited shopping options
3. The nightlife situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Maple Ridge: Great for young professionals. solid vibes, walkable.
- East: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Houston, everything felt surprisingly good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are wild. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $100K-$110K here.

**Final verdict:**
Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I've lived in Midtown for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Seattle, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Active local events and festivals
- Close to major attractions
- The traffic scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Limited entertainment options

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for remote workers. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Came here for weather and stayed because there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The traffic is honestly surprisingly good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Public transit is solid here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's not perfect but it works for me.
