Anyone else feel this way? Rent is about $1,918/month for a decent place. Household incomes average around $92,920 in Lomita. The city has invested a lot in new development. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

I've lived in West for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Phoenix, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The community vibe scene is average
The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Limited entertainment options
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for families. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.
I've been here 9 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is surprisingly good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Eastside side vs the Riverside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Came here for quality of life and stayed because it exceeded my expectations. The healthcare is honestly hit or miss and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
