Been meaning to ask this. My family moved here when I was a kid. The median home value here is around $792,100, which is pretty steep. Rent is about $1,918/month for a decent place. Homes are going for about $792,100 on average. Crime rate is something to consider -Lomita sits at 326.0 per 100K. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Does this match your experience? Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is community vibe. I love the pace of life here. Worth doing your research before committing.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Baltimore and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in West. It's solid for what you get.
Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in legal. If you're in finance you might struggle.
People: Generally decent. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Mexican.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I've lived in Highland for about 10 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Dallas, I was surprised by cultural scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Four distinct seasons
- The pet-friendliness scene is solid
The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Dating scene is rough
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for singles. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
