Hey folks, I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Average temperature is around 59--F, so the weather is moderate. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

I'm a chef and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The community is excellent and there's always something going on.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The food scene is genuinely challenging and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (The Heights) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Nashville, be prepared for the culture shock. safety is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. I love the pace of life here. Compared to Baltimore it's pretty good.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.
I've been here 1 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is surprisingly good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Old Town side vs the The Heights side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

We moved here with our family and I genuinely enjoy living here. Schools in Sunset area are challenging. Kids love it here.

I've lived in North for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Miami, I was surprised by walkability. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Active local events and festivals
- The traffic scene is pretty good
The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Limited entertainment options
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for young professionals. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

My experience has been mostly positive. it's improved dramatically in recent years. The only thing I'd watch out for is cultural scene. Other than that, No regrets on my end..
