Lompoc in the winter -how bad?

Not sure if this has been asked before, but Homes are going for about $433,800 on average. Rent is about $1,516/month for a decent place. Poverty rate is 13.1%, which is around average. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Let me know your thoughts. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Weather-wise, the summers are excellent and winters are reasonable. You get used to it after the first year.

I've lived in Maple Ridge for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Salt Lake City, I was surprised by outdoor recreation. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Active local events and festivals
- The weather scene is better than expected

The downsides:
- Homeless population growing downtown
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for families. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
