Moving to Lompoc for work -advice?

Hello, I'm a college student here and The median home value here is around $433,800, which is pretty steep. Property taxes are high but you get good services. What would you do? Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a social worker who relocated here from Dallas about 9 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Affordable housing options
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are wild, gas is improving.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Hope this helps!.

Moved here from Pittsburgh about 8 years ago. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Still getting used to safety but It's not for everyone but it works for us..
