Pros and cons of Lompoc after 7 years

Hi all, My partner and I are Rent is about $1,516/month for a decent place. Average temperature is around 59--F, so the weather is moderate. The city has invested a lot in new development. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Any advice would be great. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is public transit. it was the best decision I ever made. Worth doing your research before committing.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value walkability, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely improving and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Old Town) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Phoenix, be prepared for the culture shock. walkability is completely different here. And Limited high-paying job options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Came here for school and stayed because I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The cost of living is honestly better than expected and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
