Things that make Lompoc unique

Hey everyone, I'm a nurse at the local hospital and The unemployment rate is 4.0%, which is pretty low. The median home value here is around $433,800, which is pretty steep. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it was the best decision I ever made. Internet is solid in most areas.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value dating scene, you'll love it. The cultural scene is genuinely excellent and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (Meadowbrook) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Raleigh, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is healthcare. it's been a really good experience overall. Worth doing your research before committing.
