What surprised you most about Londonderry?

First post here. My partner and I are Median household income is $113,109, which feels pretty solid for the area. Homes are going for about $433,100 on average. Rent is about $1,917/month for a decent place. Crime rate is something to consider -Londonderry sits at 75.3 per 100K. The unemployment rate is 3.2%, which is pretty low. The weather takes some getting used to. The food scene here is surprisingly good. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

Pros:
- Diverse community
- Strong sense of community
- Active local events

Cons:
- Limited nightlife
- Poor road conditions
- Limited cultural events
- Chain restaurants dominate
Let me know your thoughts. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The suburbs are where most families end up. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The city has invested a lot in new development. The city has invested a lot in new development. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are decent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

The food scene here is hit or miss. Tons of great Mediterranean places. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from New York and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Maple Ridge. It's hit or miss for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in legal you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like craft beer.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value pet-friendliness, you'll love it. The weather is genuinely excellent and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Oak Park) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from San Diego, be prepared for the culture shock. safety is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I'm a sales manager and I've found the quality of life is solid. The community is hit or miss and there's always something going on.
