Top 5 things I love about Lone Pine

I'm retired and Rent is about $784/month for a decent place. You can expect to pay around $784 for rent here. With a population of 1,373, Lone Pine is a small town. Median household income is $49,063, which feels on the lower side for the area. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. What do you all think? The weather takes some getting used to. The suburbs are where most families end up. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The weather takes some getting used to.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Compared to Phoenix it's average.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a marketing manager, 41, moved here 3 years ago from Phoenix. I've lived in Highland and South, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Good internet infrastructure
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally hit or miss - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Urban sprawl is real
2. Road conditions need improvement
3. The job market situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Highland: Great for singles. challenging vibes, walkable.
- South: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Phoenix, everything felt improving. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $70K-$90K here.

**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I've been living here for 7 years and I'd say there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The community vibe is solid compared to other places I've lived. Overall Definitely worth checking out..
