I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Household incomes average around $125,699 in Lone Tree. It's a a small town city with about 14,136 people. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value nightlife, you'll love it. The cost of living is genuinely hit or miss and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (The Heights) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Chicago, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Limited high-paying job options.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.
I've been here 5 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the healthcare is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is tough.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Maple Ridge side vs the East side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
