Anyone else feel this way? We have two kids and With a population of 458K, Long Beach is a mid-size city. The unemployment rate is 4.3%, which is about average. Property taxes are high but you get good services. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The city has invested a lot in new development. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.
