Job market in Long Beach for tech?

Hey folks, I've been here for 6 years and Homes are going for about $661,500 on average. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Should I be concerned? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Bought a house here in 2022 and I have mixed feelings honestly. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

I've lived in West for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Atlanta, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good internet infrastructure
- The job market scene is decent

The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for couples. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value cost of living, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely excellent and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (Downtown) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Minneapolis, be prepared for the culture shock. community vibe is completely different here. And Urban sprawl is real.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've lived in Riverside for about 8 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Chicago, I was surprised by outdoor recreation. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Affordable housing options
- Diverse dining options
- The cost of living scene is excellent

The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Not very walkable outside downtown

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for retirees. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Compared to Miami it's decent.

Used to live on the West side, now on the Cedar Grove side. Completely different vibe. it's been a really good experience overall.
