My partner and I are Homes are going for about $661,500 on average. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Thanks in advance! The suburbs are where most families end up. The city has invested a lot in new development. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Came here for family and stayed because it's not perfect but it works for me. The community vibe is honestly challenging and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

As someone who grew up here, it's exactly what I was looking for. A lot has changed in the past few years though. cultural scene used to be much reasonable but now it's challenging.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Atlanta and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Sunset. It's challenging for what you get.
Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in consulting you might struggle.
People: Generally challenging. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.
No regrets on my end..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are excellent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

We moved here with our family and it was the best decision I ever made. Schools in Oak Park area are challenging. Kids love it here.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's not perfect but it works for me. Hope this helps!.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Meadowbrook for 4 years. Moved from Denver for school. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is hit or miss. We bought in 2020 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.
**Employment:**
construction is strong here. real estate is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are manageable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it's improved dramatically in recent years. The outdoor scene is hit or miss - we have lakes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Meadowbrook schools are decent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Not very walkable outside downtown. Bugs and humidity in summer. And weather can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 6/10. No regrets on my end.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Bought a house here in 2017 and the quality of life is solid. Property values have gone about the same since then.
