Rent vs buy in Long Beach -what makes sense?

Not sure if this has been asked before, but Average temperature is around 53--F, so expect cold winters. What do you all think?

Came here for cost of living and stayed because I genuinely enjoy living here. The outdoor recreation is honestly better than expected and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I've lived in Uptown for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Raleigh, I was surprised by walkability. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good airport with direct flights
- The traffic scene is challenging

The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Property taxes are high

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for couples. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I've lived in Lakewood for about 10 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from Charlotte, I was surprised by outdoor recreation. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Active local events and festivals
- Affordable housing options
- The dating scene scene is solid

The downsides:
- Bugs and humidity in summer
- Far from beaches/mountains

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for remote workers. Happy to answer more specific questions..

I've been living here for 7 years and I'd say I have mixed feelings honestly. The pet-friendliness is solid compared to other places I've lived. Overall Feel free to reach out with questions..
