Cost of living reality check -Longview

Not sure if this has been asked before, but I'm a teacher here and Average temperature is around 68--F, so the weather is moderate. Median household income is $62,488, which feels about average for the area. Homes are going for about $182,700 on average. The median home value here is around $182,700, which is actually reasonable. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Am I overthinking this? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The suburbs are where most families end up. We moved here with our family and it's been a really good experience overall. Schools in Highland area are solid. Kids love it here.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Dallas and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Pine Hills. It's average for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in finance. If you're in consulting you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Southern.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want dating scene, then yeah this place is great. But if weather matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Riverside. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in legal. If you're in tech you might struggle.

People: Generally average. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like sushi.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
