Not sure if this has been asked before, but Household incomes average around $62,488 in Longview. Property taxes are high but you get good services. What neighborhoods would you suggest? There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. I love the pace of life here. Compared to Baltimore it's challenging.

I've lived in Uptown for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Miami, I was surprised by outdoor recreation. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Four distinct seasons
- Affordable housing options
- The pet-friendliness scene is challenging
The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for families. Definitely worth checking out..

We moved here with our family and it's exactly what I was looking for. Schools in The Heights area are excellent. Kids love it here.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a HR manager who relocated here from San Francisco about 11 years ago. The main reasons were work and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Strong job market in several industries
- Close to major attractions
Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Property taxes are high
Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are growing, gas is pretty good.
Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. No regrets on my end..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Oak Park for 8 years. Moved from Baltimore for work. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is better than expected. We bought in 2017 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.
**Employment:**
retail is strong here. government is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are developing for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it's not perfect but it works for me. The outdoor scene is excellent - we have biking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Oak Park schools are solid. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Chain restaurants dominate. Road conditions need improvement. And food scene can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 9/10. Hope this helps!. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
