What to expect moving to Longview?

Rent is about $1,119/month for a decent place. Poverty rate is 10.2%, which is around average. The weather takes some getting used to. Am I wrong here? The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.

I've been here 6 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is community vibe. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is surprisingly good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Pine Hills side vs the West side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..
