Hey folks, Just moved here 9 months ago and You can expect to pay around $1,293 for rent here. Crime rate is something to consider -Lonsdale sits at 24.2 per 100K. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Does this match your experience? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Used to live on the Greenfield side, now on the Uptown side. Completely different vibe. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's exactly what I was looking for. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I'm a real estate agent and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The community is challenging and there's always something going on.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Internet is improving in most areas.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from San Diego and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Sunset. It's pretty good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in consulting. If you're in marketing you might struggle.
People: Generally challenging. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Mexican.
Hope this helps!.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a chef, 45, moved here 1 years ago from Austin. I've lived in Westside and Midtown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Low crime in most neighborhoods
3. Nice parks and green spaces
4. The people are generally tough - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Winters are long and cold
3. The nightlife situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Westside: Great for young professionals. hit or miss vibes, walkable.
- Midtown: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Austin, everything felt challenging. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are affordable. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $60K-$110K here.
**Final verdict:**
Hope this helps!. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Bought a house here in 2016 and I have mixed feelings honestly. Property values have gone about the same since then.

I work in healthcare here and I genuinely enjoy living here. The job market for my field is improving. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
