Not sure if this has been asked before, but The median home value here is around $649,800, which is pretty steep. Crime rate is something to consider -Loomis sits at 82.8 per 100K. Household incomes average around $103,435 in Loomis. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The suburbs are where most families end up. Cheers. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The suburbs are where most families end up. The weather takes some getting used to. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value food scene, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely hit or miss and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (East) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Salt Lake City, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I work in government here and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The job market for my field is excellent. No regrets on my end..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a project manager who relocated here from Nashville about 7 years ago. The main reasons were work and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Strong job market in several industries
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Limited shopping options
Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are developing, gas is average.
Socially, I love the pace of life here. Feel free to reach out with questions..
