Rent in Lorain getting crazy

So, Been living here since 2011. Crime rate is something to consider -Lorain sits at 451.4 per 100K. The unemployment rate is 4.0%, which is pretty low. Household incomes average around $45,799 in Lorain. The city has invested a lot in new development. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Any advice would be great. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a social worker who relocated here from Baltimore about 11 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Four distinct seasons
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Chain restaurants dominate

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are stable, gas is excellent.

Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
