Longtime lurker here, I'm originally from Dallas and The unemployment rate is 2.6%, which is pretty low. Median household income is $250,001, which feels pretty solid for the area. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The suburbs are where most families end up. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

We moved here with our family and it's not perfect but it works for me. Schools in Meadowbrook area are pretty good. Kids love it here.

I'm a writer and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The community is better than expected and there's always something going on.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a accountant, 42, moved here 12 years ago from Salt Lake City. I've lived in Greenfield and Midtown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Decent public transit for the size
2. Lots of new development happening
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally average - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Winters are long and cold
2. Property taxes are high
3. The cost of living situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Greenfield: Great for families. hit or miss vibes, walkable.
- Midtown: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Salt Lake City, everything felt surprisingly good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $60K-$110K here.
**Final verdict:**
It's not for everyone but it works for us.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

My experience has been mostly positive. it exceeded my expectations. The only thing I'd watch out for is dating scene. Other than that, Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I've lived in Riverside for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from New York, I was surprised by cultural scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Four distinct seasons
- The dating scene scene is pretty good
The downsides:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Road conditions need improvement
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for families. Feel free to reach out with questions..
