Anyone else feel this way? The unemployment rate is 5.3%, which is about average. Average temperature is around 60°F, so the weather is moderate. Crime rate is something to consider — Los Angeles sits at 732.2 per 100K. It's a a major city city with about 3.9M people. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. What would you do? Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

I've lived in Fairview for about 8 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from New York, I was surprised by nightlife. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- The safety scene is excellent

The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Not a lot of cultural diversity

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for retirees. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.

I've been here 14 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into running, this place is challenging.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Lakewood side vs the South side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Hope this helps!.

I'm a chef and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. The community is underrated and there's always something going on.
