What's it really like living in Los Gatos?

Longtime lurker here, I grew up here but left for a while. Average temperature is around 60--F, so the weather is moderate. Household incomes average around $207,891 in Los Gatos. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Does this match your experience? Property taxes are high but you get good services. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Property taxes are high but you get good services. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Baltimore about 8 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Strong sense of community
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Rising rent and home prices

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are reasonable, gas is tough.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. No regrets on my end..
