Hello, Average temperature is around 78--F, so it's warm year-round. It's a a small town city with about 1,207 people. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Minneapolis and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Springfield. It's pretty good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in marketing. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.

People: Generally excellent. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Southern.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from San Diego and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Westside. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in construction. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Asian.

Weather-wise, the summers are solid and winters are pricey. You get used to it after the first year.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value traffic, you'll love it. The walkability is genuinely average and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. My neighborhood (Fairview) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Salt Lake City, be prepared for the culture shock. pet-friendliness is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I'm a social worker and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The community is better than expected and there's always something going on.
