Rent vs buy in Los Lunas -what makes sense?

Hi all, I've been here for 1 years and The median home value here is around $232,700, which is actually reasonable. The food scene here is surprisingly good. What are your go-to spots? There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.

I've been here 14 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is excellent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the South side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I've lived in North for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from San Diego, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Affordable housing options
- The food scene scene is challenging

The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Chain restaurants dominate

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for young professionals. No regrets on my end..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Dallas about 12 years ago. The main reasons were work and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good healthcare facilities
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are growing, gas is excellent.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Good luck with whatever you decide..
