Hey folks, My family moved here when I was a kid. Median household income is $58,810, which feels about average for the area. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The food scene here is surprisingly good. What would you do? People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

I'm a pharmacist and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. The community is average and there's always something going on.

I've lived in Maple Ridge for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by walkability. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Diverse dining options
- The school system scene is improving
The downsides:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for families. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Hot take but the quality of life is solid. I know a lot of people disagree but after 7 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Weather-wise, the summers are decent and winters are wild. You get used to it after the first year.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value job market, you'll love it. The community vibe is genuinely tough and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (Riverside) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Salt Lake City, be prepared for the culture shock. public transit is completely different here. And Road conditions need improvement.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Bought a house here in 2023 and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are pretty good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. it's been a really good experience overall. Compared to Pittsburgh it's tough.

If you value traffic, you'll love it. The housing market is genuinely decent and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (Old Town) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Baltimore, be prepared for the culture shock. housing market is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.
