Been meaning to ask this. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a electrician who relocated here from Nashville about 2 years ago. The main reasons were school and a fresh start.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Affordable housing options
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are manageable, gas is tough.
Socially, the quality of life is solid. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Moved here from Seattle about 12 years ago. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Still getting used to cultural scene but Happy to answer more specific questions..

I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Denver about 8 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Strong job market in several industries
Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are developing, gas is pretty good.
Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Definitely worth checking out..

I'm a social worker who relocated here from San Diego about 10 years ago. The main reasons were weather and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Four distinct seasons
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are reasonable, gas is excellent.
Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.
I've been here 12 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is tough.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Fairview side vs the East side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
