First time home buyer in Louisville

Hi all, I'm a teacher here and It's a a small town city with about 20,788 people. The unemployment rate is 2.4%, which is pretty low. You can expect to pay around $2,069 for rent here. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Does this match your experience? Thanks in advance! There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The city has invested a lot in new development. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are average, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

As someone who grew up here, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. A lot has changed in the past few years though. community vibe used to be much established but now it's decent.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Compared to Dallas it's challenging.

Bought a house here in 2024 and it's not perfect but it works for me. Property values have gone up a bit since then.
