Grocery stores in Louisville -recommendations?

My family moved here when I was a kid. Homes are going for about $835,000 on average. Median household income is $149,159, which feels pretty solid for the area. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Am I wrong here? It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Eastside for 11 years. Moved from Tampa for weather. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is surprisingly good. We bought in 2018 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.

**Employment:**
government is strong here. finance is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are reasonable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's been a really good experience overall. The outdoor scene is excellent - we have hiking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Eastside schools are underrated. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited public transit options. Limited high-paying job options. And job market can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 8/10. Happy to answer more specific questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Weather-wise, the summers are better than expected and winters are growing. You get used to it after the first year.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are pretty good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Bought a house here in 2017 and it was the best decision I ever made. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

I've been in Midtown for 10 years. Moved from Baltimore for school. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is solid. We bought in 2021 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.

**Employment:**
engineering is strong here. finance is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are pricey for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's improved dramatically in recent years. The outdoor scene is hit or miss - we have hiking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Midtown schools are tough. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Traffic during rush hour is rough. Not a lot of cultural diversity. And cultural scene can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 8/10. Would recommend to anyone considering it.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Phoenix and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Old Town. It's better than expected for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in real estate. If you're in consulting you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Thai.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

Hot take but I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. I know a lot of people disagree but after 7 years here, that's my honest assessment.

As someone who grew up here, it's exactly what I was looking for. A lot has changed in the past few years though. cultural scene used to be much reasonable but now it's excellent.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a social worker who relocated here from Boston about 10 years ago. The main reasons were weather and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Limited public transit options

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are established, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
