Job market in Louisville/Jefferson County right now - honest take

Throwaway thought - I'm currently renting in Crescent Hill and trying to figure out my next move. With a population of 627,210, the city has a {city_feel}. People here are friendlier than I expected coming from Chicago. Is this just me?

Alright, I'm going to write the reply I wish someone had written for me when I was researching Louisville/Jefferson County.

Background: 45, single woman, moved from Salt Lake City 4 years ago for cost of living. Currently in Cherokee Park area.

**Housing:**
The market is hit or miss right now. We went with Cherokee Park area because friends recommended it. Paid /mo starting out, now at /mo. If I could do it again, I'd look at Clifton - it's quiet and the value is better.

**Work:**
government jobs are stable here. I was worried coming from Salt Lake City but the market is solid. Salary-wise, expect it varies wildly by field.

**Social Life:**
This was my biggest worry. First 2 months were tough. Then I found my people through a co-working space. Now I have a solid group. Louisville/Jefferson County people are warm once you break through.

**Day to Day:**
- Groceries: reasonable
- Traffic: not as bad as people say
- Dining out: improving rapidly
- Entertainment: great if you like outdoor stuff

**Would I move here again?**
The {industry} scene here is really picking up.. For retirees, I'd give it a 7/10.

Feel free to DM me with specific questions - happy to help fellow newcomers.

Alright, I'm going to write the reply I wish someone had written for me when I was researching Louisville/Jefferson County.

Background: 46, family with kids, moved from Cleveland 5 years ago for school. Currently in Clifton.

**Housing:**
The market is solid right now. We went with Clifton because it was walkable. Paid /mo starting out, now at /mo. If I could do it again, I'd look at Cherokee Park area - it's lively and the value is better.

**Work:**
marketing jobs are growing here. I was worried coming from Cleveland but the market is better than expected. Salary-wise, expect about 10-15% less than coastal cities.

**Social Life:**
This was my biggest worry. First 15 months were tough. Then I found my people through a co-working space. Now I have a solid group. Louisville/Jefferson County people are reserved at first once you break through.

**Day to Day:**
- Groceries: about average
- Traffic: depends entirely on your commute route
- Dining out: decent but not world-class
- Entertainment: you make your own fun here

**Would I move here again?**
The community in {hood} is really tight-knit.. For remote workers, I'd give it a 9/10.
