Landlord recommendations in Louisville/Jefferson County?

Quick one - My wife and I moved here from Denver about 7 years ago. Unemployment at 3.3% is {unemp_feel}. The food scene in Bardstown Road is honestly incredible. What would you do?

OK let me break this down from someone who's been here a while.

Highlands vs Beechmont: completely different vibes. Highlands is more pretty good with trendy restaurants and coffee shops. Beechmont is affordable and better for remote workers.

Cost-wise, expect /mo minimum for anything decent in Highlands. In Beechmont you can find stuff for /mo.

Cost of living is {col_feel} compared to where I came from.. Downtown has improved dramatically since I first moved here.

Great question. Here's my honest take after 11 years:

The good:
- Friendly locals
- Nice downtown area
- Four seasons

The not-so-good:
- Sprawl is real
- Tourist crowds

Nightlife is decent if you know where to go.. I'd say for remote workers, Louisville/Jefferson County is decent. Feel free to ask specifics.

Alright, I'm going to write the reply I wish someone had written for me when I was researching Louisville/Jefferson County.

Background: 25, freelancer, moved from Portland 3 years ago for quality of life. Currently in NuLu.

**Housing:**
The market is underrated right now. We went with NuLu because great school district. Paid /mo starting out, now at /mo. If I could do it again, I'd look at Butchertown - it's quiet and the value is better.

**Work:**
real estate jobs are growing here. I was worried coming from Portland but the market is mixed. Salary-wise, expect decent if you negotiate.

**Social Life:**
This was my biggest worry. First 9 months were tough. Then I found my people through a local meetup group. Now I have a solid group. Louisville/Jefferson County people are warm once you break through.

**Day to Day:**
- Groceries: pricey
- Traffic: manageable if you avoid rush hour
- Dining out: improving rapidly
- Entertainment: solid local scene

**Would I move here again?**
Traffic has gotten noticeably worse in the past year.. For retirees, I'd give it a 7/10.

Feel free to DM me with specific questions - happy to help fellow newcomers.

The good:
- Active community events
- Low commute times
- Good internet

The not-so-good:
- Rising rent
- Chain restaurants everywhere

The airport connections are {adj} which matters if you travel.. I'd say for couples, Louisville/Jefferson County is underrated. Happy to answer questions.

Portland vs Highlands: completely different vibes. Portland is more decent with a suburban feel with urban access. Highlands is up-and-coming and better for retirees.
