Not sure if this has been asked before, but Crime rate is something to consider -Lovington sits at 383.1 per 100K. Any advice would be great.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a data analyst, 32, moved here 9 years ago from New York. I've lived in Maple Ridge and East, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Active local events and festivals
2. Strong sense of community
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally tough - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Chain restaurants dominate
2. Can feel isolated
3. The job market situation is stable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Maple Ridge: Great for young professionals. improving vibes, walkable.
- East: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from New York, everything felt hit or miss. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is manageable. You can live comfortably on $60K-$140K here.
**Final verdict:**
Hope this helps!. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value walkability, you'll love it. The cost of living is genuinely average and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Maple Ridge) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Portland, be prepared for the culture shock. food scene is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from Austin and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in North. It's better than expected for what you get.
Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in consulting. If you're in consulting you might struggle.
People: Generally excellent. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like seafood.
Hope this helps!.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value housing market, you'll love it. The outdoor recreation is genuinely average and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Springfield) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from San Francisco, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Urban sprawl is real.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Dallas and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Meadowbrook. It's improving for what you get.
Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in education. If you're in government you might struggle.
People: Generally underrated. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. I have mixed feelings honestly. Compared to Salt Lake City it's surprisingly good.
