Anyone work in healthcare in Lowell?

Hey everyone, My family moved here when I was a kid. You can expect to pay around $1,080 for rent here. Household incomes average around $92,986 in Lowell. It's a a small town city with about 10,438 people. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Thoughts? People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.

I've been here 5 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is excellent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The East side vs the Riverside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Definitely worth checking out..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.

I've been here 7 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is tough.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Highland side vs the Midtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Definitely worth checking out..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Oak Park for 8 years. Moved from Baltimore for school. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is hit or miss. We bought in 2015 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.

**Employment:**
legal is strong here. engineering is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are growing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I'm still on the fence after all this time. The outdoor scene is surprisingly good - we have desert landscapes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Oak Park schools are underrated. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Rising rent and home prices. Limited entertainment options. And healthcare can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 8/10. Good luck with whatever you decide.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I've lived in Midtown for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Atlanta, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Four distinct seasons
- The healthcare scene is excellent

The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Property taxes are high

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for remote workers. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Weather-wise, the summers are underrated and winters are affordable. You get used to it after the first year.
