First time home buyer in Lowell

We have two kids and Homes are going for about $260,100 on average. Poverty rate is 5.9%, which is pretty low. Average temperature is around 57--F, so the weather is moderate. Crime rate is something to consider -Lowell sits at 288.0 per 100K. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Pros:
- Great weather
- Good schools
- Lots of new development
- Good internet infrastructure
- Active local events

Cons:
- Traffic can be terrible
- Sprawl everywhere
- Mosquitoes and humidity
- Limited cultural events
Am I overthinking this? Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The city has invested a lot in new development. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.

I've been here 5 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the public transit is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is solid.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the Cedar Grove side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

No regrets on my end..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is job market. I genuinely enjoy living here. Worth doing your research before committing.
