Is Lowell getting better or worse?

Longtime lurker here, Homes are going for about $236,900 on average. Poverty rate is 3.2%, which is pretty low. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The city has invested a lot in new development. What are your go-to spots? People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The weather takes some getting used to. The suburbs are where most families end up.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.

I've been here 10 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is decent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Greenfield side vs the Westside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Happy to answer more specific questions..
