With a population of 4,133, Lowell is a small town. Homes are going for about $231,100 on average. Average temperature is around 47--F, so expect cold winters. The unemployment rate is 1.4%, which is pretty low. The suburbs are where most families end up. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The city has invested a lot in new development. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

I've lived in East for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Atlanta, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good schools in most areas
- The job market scene is pretty good

The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Far from beaches/mountains

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for families. Hope this helps!.

Bought a house here in 2022 and I genuinely enjoy living here. Property values have gone about the same since then.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. I have mixed feelings honestly. Compared to Austin it's tough.
