Longtime lurker here, I relocated for work and Household incomes average around $81,860 in Lower Burrell. You can expect to pay around $876 for rent here. Rent is about $876/month for a decent place. The median home value here is around $189,700, which is actually reasonable. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Does this match your experience? The food scene here is surprisingly good. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The suburbs are where most families end up. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.
I've been here 13 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is solid.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Riverside side vs the Eastside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
No regrets on my end..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Highland. It's tough for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in marketing. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.
People: Generally solid. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: solid. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a contractor, 53, moved here 5 years ago from Salt Lake City. I've lived in Riverside and Eastside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Lots of new development happening
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally surprisingly good - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Summers can be brutally hot
3. The safety situation is growing and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Riverside: Great for young professionals. challenging vibes, walkable.
- Eastside: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Salt Lake City, everything felt surprisingly good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are developing. Gas is manageable. You can live comfortably on $50K-$100K here.
**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I've lived in Uptown for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from San Diego, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Decent public transit for the size
- The housing market scene is surprisingly good
The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Road conditions need improvement
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for families. Good luck with whatever you decide..

That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into running, this place is decent.
