Anyone else feel this way? Crime rate is something to consider -Lower Burrell sits at 144.4 per 100K. Average temperature is around 52--F, so expect cold winters. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Would love some local perspective. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. I genuinely enjoy living here. Compared to Austin it's pretty good.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Atlanta and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Eastside. It's decent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in construction you might struggle.
People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a software engineer who relocated here from New York about 11 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good internet infrastructure
- Active local events and festivals
Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Road conditions need improvement
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are established, gas is decent.
Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Feel free to reach out with questions..

As someone who grew up here, it exceeded my expectations. A lot has changed in the past few years though. cost of living used to be much affordable but now it's excellent.
