What Lowes Island does better than anywhere else

OK so My partner and I are The median home value here is around $777,700, which is pretty steep. You can expect to pay around $2,897 for rent here. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The city has invested a lot in new development. Does this match your experience? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The school system is genuinely better than expected and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (Maple Ridge) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Charlotte, be prepared for the culture shock. job market is completely different here. And Property taxes are high.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've lived in East for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from Phoenix, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Four distinct seasons
- The safety scene is decent

The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Limited shopping options

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for retirees. Feel free to reach out with questions..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a real estate agent, 49, moved here 6 years ago from Miami. I've lived in North and Cedar Grove, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Nice parks and green spaces
2. Good airport with direct flights
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally decent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited high-paying job options
2. Road conditions need improvement
3. The job market situation is wild and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- North: Great for couples. excellent vibes, walkable.
- Cedar Grove: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Miami, everything felt decent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are developing. Gas is developing. You can live comfortably on $100K-$120K here.

**Final verdict:**
Definitely worth checking out.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Weather-wise, the summers are better than expected and winters are manageable. You get used to it after the first year.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a contractor who relocated here from Boston about 2 years ago. The main reasons were family and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Strong job market in several industries
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Not a lot of cultural diversity

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are growing, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
