I work in real estate here and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The job market for my field is surprisingly good. Happy to answer more specific questions..

I've lived in South for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Boston, I was surprised by community vibe. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Strong job market in several industries
- The cultural scene scene is challenging
The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Urban sprawl is real
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for young professionals. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a project manager who relocated here from Charlotte about 9 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Close to major attractions
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are stable, gas is surprisingly good.
Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

My experience has been mostly positive. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The only thing I'd watch out for is healthcare. Other than that, Would recommend to anyone considering it..

As someone who grew up here, I love the pace of life here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. nightlife used to be much wild but now it's improving.
