Things Lucedale needs to improve

Military spouse here. With a population of 2,944, Lucedale is a small town. Median household income is $38,468, which feels on the lower side for the area. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. TIA!

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value housing market, you'll love it. The walkability is genuinely decent and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (East) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Phoenix, be prepared for the culture shock. nightlife is completely different here. And Chain restaurants dominate.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
